What is the Limit Break Network?

Hey everyone, Tom Caswell here! I've spent the last decade or so as a voice in the gaming industry, and the Limit Break Network is essentially a creative umbrella to house not only my own projects, but eventually, I hope, the work of others in the industry, all built for the future of video games.

There is no doubt that the gaming industry is experiencing massive and rapid changes. From gamer habits and player tastes to development costs and labor rights, Limit Break is essentially trying to capture that transition, and help carry its audience from the old industry into the new. My hope is that one day, the Network will be a vibrant tapestry of blogs, videos, podcasts, and other mediums from a wide range of creators that helps lead the conversation in a more robust, healthier gaming industry.

What is HIT THE LIMIT BREAK?

Hit The Limit Break is a bi-weekly interview show, bringing in experts from across the industry in development, publishing, digital media, marketing, and other sectors, to analyze this transition. Every other week, I plan to put out a show that includes must know insights and revelations that give shape to what the future of video games looks like, and will be a must listen for anyone interested in gaming beyond being a filthy casual.

The show is, first and foremost, an edited program published to YouTube, with an audio version pushed to the various podcast services, short form breakouts with highlights from each episode on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, and finally, a blog post containing key quotes from each episode's respective guest. So that means, no matter how you want to engage with Hit the Limit Break, there’s a format in which to do so.

What IS PUNCTUATIon POP!?

Currently, Hit The Limit Break is the only announced program that is a part of the Limit Break Network. Aside from short form breakouts on social media, that means that as of right now, new content is only coming to the Network every two weeks. To incentivize continued engagement, and also because I think it’s just really fun, limitbreaknetwork.com is the host of its own, admittedly simple, video game. It’s called Punctuation Pop! and is designed to be played daily. I’m so happy with how it's turned out. It's currently in beta, and we are planning to implement new gameplay in the future with a full release down the road.

HOW CAN I BE A PART OF THE LIMIT BREAK NETWORK?

As mentioned, Hit The Limit Break is currently the only programming a part of the Limit Break Network, but also as previously mentioned, my plan is for that to change, and hopefully sooner rather than later. I’m already in talks with some creators to bring their ideas to the Network, which I’m really excited to see materialize. But I also want people who have their own ideas, who think they might be a good fit for the Network, to let me know!

We have a contact submission form where you can submit your own ideas, and if I think they’d be a good fit, I can reach back out and discuss them with you and try and make it happen if we both agree on it being the right move! I especially want to hear from creators who are just trying to get started in the gaming industry. I owe my success to so many people that were there at the start of my career, and I’d love to pay it forward by helping bring someone’s ideas to life.

Oh, and that contact form? You can use it for any feedback you have for any of the current and eventual programming, as well as Punctuation Pop!

DoES LBN HAVE A KICKSTARTER OR A PATREON?

We do not currently have a Patreon, Kickstarter, or any other fundraising initiative beyond a simple donation option. Creators may end up bringing their own fundraising options to the Network for their individual creations, and we might end up having something like a Patreon for the Network as a whole, but it really all depends on several factors.

I’m creating this because I think it is important, not because I want to make it a business. I have a full time job producing videos that I love, and have become more invested than ever in that role. So, for the foreseeable future, this is all being done in my spare time, and therefore, I cannot devote the resources necessary to even make the Limit Break Network a business.

On top of that, I have no interest in putting the cart before the horse. I want to see what the reception is to the Network before I lock in things like monetary goals and tiers. I want to see what kind of creators and ideas become a part of it before doing so as well. If and when we do have a paid subscription model, I want to make sure it makes sense for what the Limit Break Network is, and provides smart incentives that we can properly execute upon.

That being said, as I mentioned, you can donate to the Limit Break Network if you find yourself enjoying the content and you want to help bring the grand vision to life. My hope is we bring in enough that I can cover some simple costs like hosting, emails, Google Workspace, etc. However, if more money comes in than that, it will be used to enhance the existing content and fast track bringing on other creators, particularly for one off projects like a blog post, that don’t have their own monetary mechanism planned or in place.

Every month, I will be sharing not only how much money the Limit Break Network is bringing in, but viewer and listenership across the various platforms, on top of outgoing expenses, in an effort to be as transparent as possible with anyone that may want to become involved with the Network. However, there’s also the chance we don’t receive any donations, in which case, the Network will remain relatively small, and that’s totally fine too. Like I said, I’m doing this because I think it’s important, regardless of its financial viability.

I hope that answers any questions you may have. Please leave any additional questions via the site’s contact form, and my plan is to do a follow up, updated Q&A if we get enough submissions around the same questions. But for now, thank you for checking out the Limit Break Network!
